Our logo is red, our thinking is green, says Ive van Frausum, founder of IJzerland. The scrap metal processor has relied for many years on the expertise of SAES International for the purchase and maintenance of custom attachments. Recently, two more LaBounty scissors added to the extensive assortment.
IJzerland was founded in 1991 and has been based in Wommelgem, Belgium, since 2010. With its location and unloading quay along the Albert Canal, it covers a working area of Belgium, the Netherlands and northern France. Not only do they process scrap metal, they also specialize in demolishing iron structures, halls and tanks on site. For on-site demolition of these objects, IJzerland already has a fleet of machines, but in preparation for the future, they have invested in a custom-built Liebherr 938 VH-HD with an operating weight of over 59 tons.
LaBounty MSD 1500R Legend
To maximize the use of this Liebherr, a hydraulically retractable undercarriage, magnet installation, hydraulically height-adjustable cab and a triple boom with a Likofix hydraulically disconnectable dipperstick were chosen. SAES supplied two new LaBounty shears for this machine. For the dipperstick a LaBounty MSD 1500R Legend with a working weight of approximately 3,600 kg and a cutting force of 668 tons, equipped with an SQ 70/55 connection. For this machine, SAES also provided the purpose-built 70/55 OilQuick quick change on the underside of the dipperstick to quickly change all hydraulic attachments.
In this configuration, IJzerland also has an Epiroc concrete cutter, magnet and a VTN demolition sorting grapple type MD 210 with twin motors, specially adapted with closed side bulkheads and saw teeth in the frame to make the machine multifunctional. With all attachments, SAES has lined the hydraulic hoses inside to eliminate damage from outside.

Finally, SAES supplied a LaBounty MSD 2500R Legend with a working weight of approximately 7,000 kg and a cutting force of 1,437 tons, equipped with Likofix quick-change system, for the tree assembly. The idea behind this combination is to keep transport movements to a minimum, as the machine can be used extremely flexibly. By doing so, IJzerland realizes significant savings in CO2 emissions. It fits into the green way of thinking of the scrap processor.
The purchase of the LaBounty MSD 1500R Legend and MSD 2500R Legend brings the total number of LaBounty shears at IJzerland to six. When asked why IJzerland chose LaBounty, the answer is clear: "We tested other products, but because of their proven solidity and outstanding production, LaBounty iron shears are hard to match by other products. Last but not least, we are also extremely satisfied with the service provided by SAES."
