Collaborate better and more efficiently with Trimble Connect

Being able to work anytime and anywhere. That is the credo of Geometius, supplier of measurement systems and associated software. Today, 'being able to work anytime and anywhere' takes it a step further, namely 'being able to work anytime and anywhere with the right people and the right data'. This is thanks to the Trimble Connected Workflow. At InfraTech 2025 in Rotterdam, Geometius will show what benefits this has for projects. Director Jasper Schuur gives a preview.

"How nice it is, and especially efficient, when everyone involved in a construction or infrastructure project can share data with each other, think 2D drawings, 3D models, BIM data and other project-related documents," Jasper says. "But also that you can collaborate without all having to work in the same application and where all involved can share, review, coordinate and comment on models in real time. In this way it creates a kind of workflow that is connected to each other." What Jasper describes is possible with Trimble Connected Workflow, a comprehensive cloud service that acts as a platform where all project data is accessible, up-to-date and secure. Trimble is one of the market leaders in accurate measurement solutions and Geometius is the exclusive dealer for their surveying and rail solutions in the Netherlands and Marine Construction solutions throughout the Benelux. In addition to Trimble, Geometius supplies instruments and software from around 30 other innovative brands that can be used to perform measurements and process data. "Because of this wide range, we can very well work with and for our customers to see which system best suits their needs and way of working, from GPS solutions and total stations to drones and 3D laser scanners. And because we are independent of the manufacturer, we can really put the customer first."

Linking pin

Thanks to the platform function Jasper describes, Trimble Connect forms the linking pin, so to speak, between all software and data within a project. "One of the unique features of Trimble Connect is that it not only manages to integrate data from Trimble software and hardware into its platform, but also from design software and office software from other brands. As a user, you do not have to work in the same application, but can easily share and receive data from your favorite software package via Trimble Connect. In this way, you can switch very quickly between the office and the field." 

Maintaining high accuracy

In addition to integration with other tools, maintaining high accuracy is a second unique feature. "3D models involve very large amounts of data. If you want to be able to represent this quickly, people often work with simplified data. In this case, a low-resolution version of reality is stored. The disadvantage is that this comes at the expense of accuracy. Trimble, however, makes no concessions to accuracy. Through Trimble Connect, you see the low accuracy, but in the background all the data is retained. That makes it possible to perform all kinds of analyses in the cloud without sacrificing accuracy and having to buy special expensive software." 

Flexibility

Everyone involved in a project can collaborate within Trimble Connect. Users can easily be selected and added. "This also makes the platform more and more of a communication tool," says Jasper. "Not only between colleagues, but also to clients and subcontractors. It also proves its added value in the event of an emergency. Suppose a field employee is unexpectedly indisposed. He can then add a colleague to the project in Trimble Connect, so that he or she has all the data and can take over the work. So you're also a lot more flexible when it comes to deploying people."
