Kokosystems, a reliable player in the GWW sector, offers sustainable noise barriers that combine a natural appearance with effective noise reduction for a variety of projects. Whether for reconstruction, replacement or new construction, thanks to the wide range of services Kokosystems always offers a total solution.
"From consulting to engineering to manufacturing to execution, we take it all in," says Arjan Kick of Kokosystems. He mentions three projects that give an insight into the company's versatility.
During the reconstruction of the N286, Kokosystems was called in by BAM because the relocation of the road causes an increase in traffic intensity and therefore noise pollution for local residents. The solution? A 168-meter-long Kokowall® noise barrier 3 meters high. "We worked closely with an engineering firm in the preparatory phase to establish the right specifications for the screen," says Arjan. "They provided the probing data, we engineered, designed, produced and installed the noise barrier. This allows us to completely unburden our clients."
In Groenlo, Kokosystems was commissioned by the municipality of Oost-Gelre to replace an outdated wooden noise barrier on a higher ground embankment along the N319. Kokosystems acted as contractor in this project and took care of the entire project. The new screen, a Kokowall® of 1.8 meters high and 292 meters long, is an example of an environmentally friendly approach: recyclable for 99% and provided with green vegetation. "That makes it not only functional, but also aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, it is a sustainable solution," says Arjan, "because an overgrown screen has a lifespan of more than 50 years. Considerably longer than wooden noise barriers and therefore an excellent replacement." He notes that more and more old noise barriers are at the end of their lifespan. "Replacing outdated noise barriers gives us the opportunity to deploy sustainable solutions that will last."
The development of a new housing estate in Rotterdam involves the construction of a new road: the Verlengde Bosdreef. On behalf of Boskalis, Kokosystems is installing a new noise barrier here. The screens, varying in height between 1 and 2 meters and with a total length of 220 meters, are necessary to protect the homes against noise pollution from this new road. Arjan concludes, "Our Kokowall® noise barriers not only offer an aesthetically pleasing solution that meets all noise standards, they are also sustainable and circular, with favorable LCA and MKI scores, perfect for a variety of projects."
