Last summer, Rijkswaterstaat carried out major maintenance on the Zeeburg bridges (A10). To announce these road works, Bordbusters, sustainable and innovative project signs, were deployed along the route. Eric Heijting is the driving force behind Bordbusters: "Innovation is our spearhead and we unburden our customers as much as possible."
"You won't hear us say 'no,' and we mainly think 'how can we think with the customer?' That's also how we came up with the idea of Bordbusters," Eric said. "The wooden information boards that were commonly used along roads were difficult to move, not storm-proof and caused a lot of waste. In addition, above-ground foundations realized a significant reduction in cable and pipe damage. This also did not go unnoticed by many partners in the GWW sector."
Bordbusters are structures with a concrete base and a frame of galvanized steel, stormproof in other words. Bordbusters designs and produces the signs in-house, which makes the company very flexible. Attention to sustainability is also there. "Our Bordbusters are fully recyclable and we use environmentally friendly inks. We want to leave as small an ecological footprint as possible. Thus we are certified according to the CO2 performance ladder step 3. Moreover, we do everything possible to create the most pleasant and safe working environment for our people, which is why we are also ISO and VCA** certified. We also regularly use sheltered workshops for the production of our signs, all as part of a piece of social return."
Precisely because of the quality, durability and convenience of Bordbusters, it is impossible to imagine the streets without them. The company has worked with BAM Infra Nederland for many years, as well as with the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management, provinces, municipalities and commercial parties. Commissioned by BAM, the Bordbusters were deployed along the A10 last summer to inform motorists about the work on the Zeeburger bridges. "We now have five variants in terms of dimensions, from mini-Bordbusters (1.5 by 1.5 meters) to mega-Bordbusters (6 by 6 meters) which means they can also be used for events, exhibitions, construction projects and advertising purposes, for example. In addition, all variants can be connected, so we can supply almost all sizes." The nice thing about the Bordbusters is that they can be installed very quickly and without hindrance thanks to the above-ground and unanchored positioning of the structure. Incidentally, Bordbusters handles the placement and relocation itself with its extensive fleet of vehicles.
Thanks to the no-nonsense mentality of the people at Bordbusters, many clients have been customers from the very first hour. "We like to think along with the customer. Nice example of this is another innovative product of ours, the temporary bus stop. Connexxion asked us if we could come up with something for a temporary bus stop facility in connection with road works, events and detour. This is how the idea for the temporary bus stop made of steel and aluminum that can be built up modularly came about. The platforms are wheelchair accessible in accordance with the standards of travelers' organization Rover and are also prescribed by the CROW. Nowadays, even complete temporary stations are built with our systems to perform maintenance on regular stations."
