Asphalt reinforcement for reinforcement of bituminous roads
The asphalt reinforcements S&P CARBOPHALT® and S&P GLASPHALT® is a reinforcement net completely impregnated with bitumen whose nodes of the net are not fixed. During installation, the net is therefore moldable to the substrate which results in the net being easy to install and applied directly under the top layer of asphalt. Thanks to the fact that the nodes are malleable, the net can adapt to the substrate, this makes it possible to apply the reinforcement, even without much effort in bends, with large to medium radii. The fact that the net is impregnated with bitumen reduces the risk of damage to the net during work.

In addition, the open structure of the net allows the new top layer of the asphalt to adhere to the layer below the net. The material mixture of the asphalt can bind to the original layer through the holes in the net structure. This creates optimal interlocking between the interlayers and the asphalt reinforcement distributes the tensile forces in the asphalt structure. Reflection cracking of the asphalt surface can thus be dramatically delayed or even completely prevented. When asphalt reinforcement is used, it is necessary to observe the applicable regulations for road construction. These are essentially the CROW guidelines. Important aspects mentioned in these guidelines include substrate preparation, such as milling, cleaning, sticking, spray quantities, ect. The requirements for good adhesion between asphalt reinforcement and the mutual asphalt layers.
