Henk van Tongeren Water & Techniek BV has over 70 years of technical experience and provides both corporate and government clients with versatile solutions in the field of water and technology. We put water to work to get major infrastructure, construction and water projects moving, support governments with their water management and give the world a helping hand. In character and with sustainable and innovative installation and groundwater techniques. With the aim: to help the world a hand forward. That's how our founder Henk van Tongeren did it 70 years ago, and that's how Guido van Tongeren and Robert Barkel and their team are still doing it today.

Henk's story

Henk van Tongeren (1912-1986) was the son of a plumber, and as it was in the 1920s, Henk was not in school. He joined his father to work with lead, copper and zinc. But Henk wanted more. He wanted to develop further so he could help others. Not surprisingly, he joined the resistance during World War II and helped several people in hiding through the war. After the war, one of the hiders wanted to do something in return. He arranged a government job for Henk that gave him the means to get his middle-class degree. This was the beginning of his dream: Henk started his own plumbing business, contributing his bit to rebuilding the Netherlands. He did this with the few resources he had. There was not much money for expensive machines. So he built his own machines and tools from old war vehicles. The strangest creations stood on the company grounds. But they did their job. And well, too. Because of his inventive and decisive character, Henk was ahead of his time. And always busy getting things moving. From water to special projects and people.

Seventy years later, this hands-on mentality can still be felt at Henk van Tongeren Water & Techniek and Guido van Tongeren - now the 3rd generation Van Tongeren - continues his grandfather's mission.
