Fundex Foundations BV is a specialist in the field of deep foundations in Belgium. The company, subsidiary of the Fundex Group from Oostburg in the Netherlands, has long been considered an international expert in foundation techniques. To further support its international ambitions Fundex has strategically chosen the Zeebrugge location. In addition to branches in Belgium and the Netherlands, branches in other European countries are currently being investigated.

Foundation Specialist Fundex, founded in 1953, has been an expert in international foundation projects for many years. That status you reach only if you continuously innovate and there is also unique in Fundex. Recently, the fully electric Fundex CD20E drilling machine was put into service. The CD20E is a compact zero emission foundation machine that produces less noise and fewer emissions. In addition, the CD20E is Flexible and versatile and the machine is an excellent alternative in areas with strict environmental standards. Furthermore, a first successful trial was conducted with the Fundex F4800E in Leiden. Fundex worked here together with Greener and Dura Vermeer Bouw Zuid. The foundation work was performed by a zero emission drilling rig. The F4800E was equipped with a vibration-free drill which took into account the immediate neighbors.

"Zero emission foundation machines will play a decisive role in the realization of construction projects," says Davy Maes, general manager of the Fundex Group, within the group the specialist in soil displacement, vibration-free techniques.

Over the years, we continue to improve our products and are seen in the market as the specialist in the field of vibration-free (deep) foundations for many structures, but also certainly in high-rise buildings."

Case: Ghent Verapaz Bridge
The Verapaz Bridge (called the Handelsdok Bridge in earlier plans) is a road bridge to be built over the Handelsdok in 2022-2024, and will be part of the city's R40 ring road, in the Belgian city of Ghent.

The future bridge - 2×2 lanes - will connect Muidelaan to Afrikalaan, after which the urban R40 ring road will run somewhat wider along Afrikalaan-Koopvaardijlaan instead of Dok-Noord - Dok-Zuid. The bridge will thus also form a new connection between the northern R40 and the R4 and relieve the Muide area of heavy road traffic.

Fundex was involved in this project after previous pile installations encountered major problems due to underground obstacles. The years of experience and expertise in combination with excellent equipment that Fundex brought to this project led to a good solution so that the construction of the Verapaz bridge could continue in the right way.

Case: Truck Plaza Zeebrugge
Fundex is helping to build the foundation of the expanded Truck Plaza truck parking lot in Zeebrugge. Besides a parking and fueling station, there will be a supermarket, a restaurant and extensive sanitary facilities with showers and toilets for truck drivers. Truck Plaza Zeebrugge will accommodate 140 trucks that can also refuel or recharge there and will open after the summer of 2025.
