In the next step towards a sustainable future, Renault Trucks, Bluekens EV and Kleuster Freegônes today celebrate the opening of the new cargobike showroom at Bluekens EV's Zero Emission Center in Breda. This festive occasion, attended by Climate & Energy Alderman Peter Bakker of the City of Breda, is a milestone in Renault Trucks' commitment to sustainable urban mobility and supports the ambition for a greener Breda.
Jaco Overbeeke, Managing Director of Bluekens Truck and Bus B.V., opened the ceremony and highlighted the joint efforts for sustainable mobility. "This collaboration between Bluekens and Renault Trucks is a perfect example of how the industry can work together to provide sustainable solutions that benefit our city and its residents," Overbeeke said.
Bruno Blin, President of Renault Trucks, continued the ceremony with an important message about the industry's responsibility in the transition to a more sustainable future. "Renault Trucks' mission is to provide our customers with efficient, sustainable mobility solutions that support an emission-free future," Blin said.
The ceremony also included speeches by Pierre-Louis Dumas, Technical Director at Kleuster, and Jerome Berthelet, Managing Director at Renault Trucks Netherlands.
Driven by the same mission to decarbonize professional mobility, Renault Trucks has entered into a synergistic and complementary partnership with Kleuster. Kleuster Freegônes is a Lyon-based manufacturer of electric e-cargobikes. This partnership shares the manufacturer's expertise, industrial infrastructure and large-scale production capacity. The cargobikes will be assembled at the heart of Renault Trucks' industrial site in Vénissieux. With this partnership, Renault Trucks has added last-mile solutions to its range of electric vehicles.
A bike race with Councilman Peter Bakker
The highlight of the ceremony was of course the official opening which was accompanied by Peter Bakker, Alderman for Climate and Energy in Breda. He gave the "starting shot" for a bicycle race between Pierre-Louis Dumas and Jaco Overbeeke. After an exciting 200-meter sprint, Alderman Bakker handed the scissors to winner Pierre-Louis, who was then allowed to cut the ribbon officially opening the showroom.
Sponsorship campaign for local causes
To mark the opening of the cargobike showroom, the partners are announcing a sponsorship campaign. Renault Trucks, Kleuster Freegônes and Bluekens will sponsor a cargobike for three months to a local start-up or charity to reduce CO2 emissions in Breda. Participants can nominate themselves via social media, with the winner receiving the cargobike.
Renault Trucks, a leader in the transport sector since 1894, underlines its commitment to sustainable mobility with the opening of this showroom. With a wide range of clean transport solutions and a focus on electric vehicles, the company is demonstrating that it is serious about its role in the energy transition.
