Develon (formerly known as Doosan Construction Equipment) has launched the new DX140LC-7K, 14.6-ton StageV crawler excavator, this one to replace the successful DX140LC-7 model. Although the performance and working range are the same as those of the DX140LC-7, this new machine includes many improvements that increase safety and ease of use for both the operator and working on a construction site. Combined operator comfort with improved points for easier maintenance.
Key improvements to the new DX140LC-7K model include:
- Better access for maintenance;
- Safer access to the superstructure;
- Better rear visibility;
- Better visibility to the right;
- New dashboard with tablet design that is more responsive.
The serviceability of the DX140LC-7K includes improved access to the DEF tank and fuel-fill hose. This is combined with much easier operator access to the engine compartment via new anti-slip steps and handrails behind the cab. The anti-slip steps are protected and secured by a new door on the side of the crawler excavator.
The DX140LC-7K features a new flattened hood design, which has reduced the maximum height of the machine's rear covers from 1285.5 mm and 1320 mm to a uniform 1070 mm across the entire rear of the machine. This provides the operator with much better visibility to both the rear and right side of the machine.
Changes were made in the engine compartment, including moving the PTO (Power Take Off) for the rotary pump from the main pump to the engine itself. This also allowed the size of the aftertreatment system to be optimized and reduced.
Elsewhere on the DX140LC-7K, Develon has removed the piloted check valve from the valve block for better oil flow. This is not required in the EU as they are standard on the lift and articulating cylinder. This reduces pressure losses and reduces heat in the system. The air pre-filter has also been relocated for better performance and noise reduction.
In the operator's cab is a new dashboard monitor with an advanced and modern tablet design. The former hydraulic two-way pedal has also been replaced with an electronic two-way pedal, with a new PE3C electric pedal as a standard feature, along with a simplified hydraulic system.
The DX140LC-7K's state-of-the-art cab continues to excel in terms of space and ergonomics, taking operator comfort and ease of operation to a new level. In addition to the new monitor, the operator has a standard high-quality seat and more features than other machines on the market, ensuring superior controllability and high precision in all applications.
Other important features in and around the cabin include:
- DAB audio (Hands-free and Bluetooth);
- Key-less start (Doosan Smart Key) & remote door locking/unlocking;
- Fully adjustable air suspension seat with heating (with optional cooling function);
- Parallel wiper system and newly designed pedals;
- Improved airflow for defrosting and air conditioning;
- 9 x LED work lights standard/2 additional Led lights as an option;
- AVM - Around view monitor with 360° cameras (optional).
The new crawler excavator uses a smart hydraulic system that offers an improvement of approximately 30% when working with attachments, compared to previous models. This system applies smart hydraulic logic for optimal distribution of hydraulic flow rate when both the arm and attachment are working simultaneously, with a new priority valve and an additional hydraulic line that maintains continuous hydraulic flow to the attachment even when the handle is in use.
The DX140LC-7K is powered by the D34 4-cylinder Stage V diesel engine that delivers 86 kW (115 hp) of power at 2000 rpm. The engine's impressive performance combined with the hydraulic main valve and SPC3 provide greater fuel economy. Four power modes are available on the DX140LC-7K and the operator can set the power mode (P+, P, S or E) in both uni-directional and bi-directional modes.
There is a Tiltrotator mode on the control panel of this new excavator, which can be selected for optimized hydraulic oil flow and helps to maximize the accuracy of Tiltrotator operations. This Tiltrotator mode is a dedicated two-way flow mode, but is managed by the EPOS as a one-way flow mode, with pressureless return to the tank.
The DX140LC-7K comes standard from the factory with the advanced Develon Telematics (formerly DoosanCONNECT) management system. This system provides a web-based solution, which is very useful for monitoring machine performance and safety and promoting preventive maintenance.
