'Proper attachments save considerable time and money'

Speed and efficiency are things that can distinguish a demolition company. Working with the right equipment can save a lot of time, fuel and therefore money. And that can make the difference between a job being awarded or not. DemTech from Zoeterwoude knows better than anyone else which tools work and which do not.

Take Lehnhoff's quick-change systems, for example. "Before you invest in those, it's important to get the rest of your equipment in order first," says Arthur Polak, owner and sales director at DemTech. "If you also need a new pulverizer, spend your money on that first. Quick-change systems fall under the luxury products." But if you have the basics in order, a full hydraulic quick-change system can save a lot of time and fuel.

The NPK pulverizer with Powerbooster forms an unbeatable combination in practice.

"The Lehnhoff SQE range has five models, suitable for excavators from 12 to as much as 130 tons," Polak explained. "They are distinguished from other systems by the vertical method of coupling. Two blocks are constantly pressed together by hydraulic pressure, creating a reliable and leak-free connection. A big plus is that this type of quick coupler can handle a much larger oil flow and has a larger oil throughput opening. The Lehnhoff SQE 80 can handle as much as 550 liters of oil per minute. For optimal operation of hydraulic attachments, this is very important. It means less fuel is used."

Twice faster

What also saves fuel is the so-called Power Booster, a pressure booster that has been built into NPK pulverizers since 1978. "With that you work twice as fast and you can increase the pressure up to three times," Polak said. With a relatively low oil flow, the concrete pulverizer is much faster and more powerful than pulverizers without a booster, while other hydraulic functions of the excavators remain unaffected. This construction method also makes the pulverizer much more compact, lighter in weight and user-friendly.

According to Polak, you can do the same work with an NPK pulverizer on a 25-ton crane as you can with another brand on a 35-ton excavator. "A 35-tonner with an NPK G-28 pulverizer or a 22-tonner with a G-18 is the ideal combination as far as we are concerned. In terms of efficiency and cost cannot be surpassed." In this, DemTech also has a maintenance program, which easily calculates costs over the entire life of the pulverizers.

Because of the power, efficiency and longevity, Polak says it is quite easy to calculate the annual costs and returns of the Japanese pulverizers. "Because you can go with a smaller crane and save considerably on fuel, the initial investment is considerably lower. That's really the added value of this product."

Genesis scrap shears

And since NPK incorporated Genesis demolition shears a few years ago, DemTech is also a dealer for Genesis in the Benelux. According to Polak, the Genesis XT mobile shears are "the next generation of shears in the industry, designed to process scrap metal more efficiently." They are smaller and heavier than other demolition shears and are closer to the excavator in terms of center of gravity. And that means models can be mounted on excavators that previously could only carry smaller, less powerful shears.
