Zero-emission foundation machine for even more sustainable construction projects

Foundation specialist FUNDEX, which blew out 70 candles last year, has been an international expert in foundation techniques for decades. This status can only be achieved by constantly keeping its finger on the pulse of new techniques, innovations and sustainable developments. The recent launch of the FUNDEX CD20E, an emission-free electrically powered compact drill made by Fundex Equipment, fits nicely within that story. "Zero-emission foundation machines will play a decisive role in the realization of construction projects," says Davy Maes, general manager at Funderingstechnieken Verstraeten, within the group the specialist in soil displacement, vibration-free techniques.

Davy Maes: "A number of foundation companies in the world are allowed to make Fundex and Tubex piles, as long as the right drilling points are used and purchased through us. This results in a certain minimum quality level, necessary to give these pile types the name Fundex or Tubex. Over the years we continue to improve our products and are seen in the market as the specialist in the field of vibration-free (deep) foundations for many structures, but also certainly in high-rise buildings."

FUNDEX CD20E

The FUNDEX CD20E is an emission-free electrically powered compact drill for installing various types of piles in situations with limited height and space. The design is based on the conventional CD20 version, with the possibility of switching to an emission-free drive system and the flexibility of using a conventional generator power system or alternative power sources, depending on availability. Despite its compact design, it is very powerful with high stability, thanks in part to the outriggers all around. 

With the FUNDEX CD20E you can realize Fundexpiles with a maximum length of 17 meters. The maximum length for Tubex piles depends on the subsoil. The maximum tube diameter is 457 mm and the drilling point has a diameter of 670 mm. The machine is also fully remote-controllable and the real-time pile data from the FDA system is visible on the remote control screen.

Importance of sustainability

The FUNDEX CD20E will start making an even greater contribution to the sustainability of new construction and/or renovation projects when manufacturing Fundex piles, Tubex piles and Fundex Energy Piles. "Electric equipment is only gaining in importance and we certainly don't want to wait until everyone in the construction industry realizes this, because then, due to the low availability, waiting times may well increase. We like to be ahead of that. And as a large party, we also have the clout to do so." Funderingstechnieken Verstraeten also leads the way in other areas. "For example, we are VCA-certified and in 2024 we are going for level 3 on the Safety Culture Ladder. And of course, high quality is always fundamental with us," concludes Davy Maes.
