Terracon Funderingstechniek has been through turbulent times. Bas Ploeg, appointed interim director since July 1, 2024, has the task of bringing back the peace and consolidating the company. A role he can be entrusted with, given his past and his experience with the internationally oriented specialist in foundation engineering in both the Netherlands and abroad.

Terracon offers a wide range of solutions for large and complex foundation issues. The foundation specialist is used to always going the extra mile, as it derives a large part of its turnover from the industrial sector. "That requires a slightly different approach than regular projects, with extra attention to work method descriptions and more extensive risk analyses. And that's where we feel like a fish out of water," says Bas, who has been active in the foundation industry in a variety of roles since 2004. "I've worked for various foundation contractors in various positions, ranging from work planner and project leader to company manager."
Bas made his first move towards Terracon as a project manager in 2017. However, after a foray at another foundation specialist, the itch began to itch again and he returned to the "old nest. "Since July 1, I may fulfill the role as director ad interim succeeding Benjamin Bekhof. A wonderful challenge at a wonderful company with an eye for people and the environment. We work with clean fuels and modern Stage V engines. Eye for man and environment has our continuous attention. We are considering how we can make our machinery even more sustainable as soon as possible."
According to Bas, Terracon has the drive to always want to do things better and smarter, by going the extra mile. "That invariably leads to the best foundation solution, in which we minimize failure costs, execution time and environmental nuisance. We prefer to work for clients who see us as a true construction partner and therefore like to be engaged at an early stage, so that we can contribute our expertise in a timely manner. This always results in a best-for-project solution for industry, petrochemicals, data centers and energy transition. Whereby we maintain a high safety regime based on our intrinsic motivation. We occupy step 4 on the Safety Culture Ladder and are VCA-P certified."
Terracon's machinery is extensive. The foundation specialist can handle virtually all types of pile systems. In the field of drilled, vibration-free techniques, these include the Terr-Econ (injection) pile, the Tubex pile, the Terr-Econ tubular pile, the TerraSon Drilled Pile and the Screw Injection Pile. In the driven systems category, Terracon can handle the Vibro (combi) pile, the Prefab pile and the MV pile. Finally, Bas reveals that the foundation specialist plans to invest further in strengthening the internal organization so that they are set for the future.
