Duinker Infra has won a new contract for a major cable project on Texel and has purchased a new Develon DX140W-7 especially for the job. This versatile 14-ton mobile excavator is perfectly equipped to perform the challenging job as accurately as it is efficient.
Ruben Duinker is a young entrepreneur who started for himself in March 2018. In a relatively short time, the company has grown to fifteen to twenty employees and a sizeable fleet that includes about eight excavators from 1 to 14 tons, a compact wheel loader, tractors with carts, pumps, reels, etc. Duinker Infra has focused on the laying of cables and pipes for all utilities located in the ground (gas, water, electricity). For now, the work area is limited to Texel itself, because, according to Ruben, "there is still plenty of work here."
In addition to two 10-tonners, the new Develon is the third mobile excavator at Dunkirk and also the largest in the equipment fleet. The acquisition was delivered by the dealer in October with a complete bucket set, which immediately started excavation work. This investment in the DX140W-7 ensures that Duinker Infra is ready to tackle the cable project on Texel with maximum efficiency and professionalism. "Such a large machine makes us more all-round, allowing us to complete jobs from A to Z."
The Develon DX140W-7 is equipped with various options, including automatic central grease lubrication from Wiejelo, in order to facilitate maintenance and increase the employability of the 14-ton excavator. In addition, the Develon is equipped with a drawbar and Engcon swivel tilt piece, allowing work to be performed with greater precision and flexibility. Extra-wide Nokian tires ensure optimum traction and stability, even on soft surfaces, which is crucial for conditions on Texel.
Liander, together with contractors Van Gelder and Duinker Infra, has started large-scale work on the electricity grid on the Wadden Island. The grid operator wants to eliminate bottlenecks by building a new electricity station in Zuid-Eierland. From the currently only electricity station in Den Burg, 136 kilometers of cables will be laid and several electricity houses will be replaced. The power grid in Oosterend, where Duinker Infra itself is located, will be strengthened to make it more future-proof.
"The work will last into the spring of 2026 and will largely take place in the outlying area," Ruben clarifies. "This automatically means that we have to lay a lot of driving plates and create track." In addition to earthwork, Duinker Infra is also taking on a lot of sandy soil transport and setting up depots. Up to ten of its own machines are used for this, with a starring role for the new DX140W. The mobile excavator excels in powerful performance, excellent all-round visibility and sensitive operation.
Although the 14-ton Develon still has few hours on the counter, the first impression is absolutely positive. Ruben: "The machine is strong, stable and quiet, exactly what we had in mind. I had heard of Doosan, but had no experience with it myself. So why did we choose this brand? The Develon dealer simply responded quickly to our request. Another plus was that a demo machine was immediately available to start the project with. In terms of set-up and aftercare, I am also very satisfied with the cooperation."
