Soon-to-be 150-ton telerup crane for sale

Soon 150-ton telerup crane also for sale

Already 39 battery-electric Sany crawler cranes sold

Sany's all-electric crawler cranes are going over the show-bank like hot cakes. Dutch company UCM Holland, which markets the machines in Benelux, has already sold 39 units in the Netherlands and Belgium since the introduction of the 80-ton SCE800TB-EV - and later the 100- and 135-ton SCE1000A-EV and SCE1350A-EV lattice boom cranes. "We are leading the way in this," says Jack Donker of UCM Holland.

"There is gradually no longer a market for diesel machines in the Netherlands," Donker knows. "And that's not surprising given the strict regulations around nitrogen and CO2 emissions. The Netherlands, but meanwhile also Norway, are leading the way with regulations and that makes the demand for electric cranes gigantic at the moment."

What it all started with: the 80-ton electric grower caterpillar.

Although the Chinese multinational Sany is already well advanced in electrification in several machinery markets, this innovation in the crane field has Dutch origins. "The first request for a fully electric crane came from us as an importer," Donker says. "Sany then developed and built the machine in-house. For now, though, on its own European assembly line. And despite being a large company, we have short lines of communication and regular contacts at Sany. There is also the European branch of Sany with whom we maintain good contact. We started with Stage V machines and gradually upgraded them in many ways to meet our requirements for the Dutch market. Meanwhile, we saw an ever-growing demand for electric machines."

Because the diesel-powered SCE800TB was the best-selling crane at UCM Holland, it was decided to electrify it first. This was followed by Sany's 100- and 135-ton lattice boom cranes, the SCE1000A-EV and SCE1350A-EV.

"As of the end of this year, the 150-ton grower is also available fully electric," Donker proudly announces. "Because the machines are getting bigger and bigger, there is also more room for larger battery packs. Instead of 282 kWh, they now already provide 336 kWh of battery capacity, allowing longer work before they need to be recharged."

One point of concern is still the loading capacity on Dutch construction sites. Donker: "It could be a bit larger. Then we can actually load faster. And what also happens regularly is that the power fails on building sites and the machine is not fully charged the next morning. For that reason, Sany supplies an app on which everything on the machine can be read remotely. Including what percentage is already charged. So if you see that charging is stalling, it is wise to check on the construction site whether the power supply is still OK there."

What is special about the all-electric Sany cranes is that they are delivered ex-factory. "For a while we looked into converting the diesel cranes to an electric model, but we estimated that the conversion market in the Netherlands would not be able to handle that in terms of capacity," says Donker. "Moreover, an electric drive requires a different kind of construction of a crane. Sany's R&D department in China is of a tremendously high level in this regard, so this was ultimately the best solution. And given that they are such a huge hit now, also the best choice."

Course

The Sany Cranes.Services team guides buyers of electric cranes with a special course for operators. For one thing, the operation of an electric crane is slightly different, also the handling around battery charging requires a separate approach. In addition, special manuals are available in Dutch. Sany Cranes.Services also ensures that the testing and inspection of the to-be-delivered (electric) cranes is done on its own location.
